Maia Leppo

CHICAGO   |    Maia Leppo is a metalsmith and the current artist-in-residence at Arrowmont School for Arts and Crafts in Tennessee. She works almost exclusively in industrial materials (steel, wire and silicone), the restrictions of which she uses to inform the kind of jewelry she creates. The shapes in her work are inspired by botanical forms, and in every piece she finds a way to create volume out of flat components. Her work hits the soft spot between wearability and risk, movement and weight, and maintains femininity while being informed by traditionally masculine materials.
