BRITISH COLUMBIA | Born in coastal Japan, Miki Tanaka studied painting and metal arts all around the U.S. and Novia Scotia before setting up studio in Bowen Island, B.C. where she now lives and works. Her work is influenced by many things, from the sheer inspiration learning traditional metalsmithing techniques gives her to the arts tradition her family holds. What is constant throughout her work is an investigation in shape and the possibilities of connections. Miki's work features innovative means of linking different metals and making forms and each piece is playful in its own way.
